Introduction to Visual Basic 6.0

Description:

Visual Basic is used in many businesses, both large and small. Learning Visual Basic the right way will give you a good grasp of many programming concepts that are more difficult to teach using languages like C or Pascal, since VB uses English keywords. This course will give you an introduction to the Visual Basic 6.0 development environment and the concepts of programming Visual Basic applications. You'll learn basic programming skills, including using variables, subroutines, and functions. You'll also learn about the large built-in function library available within Visual Basic. Because everything in Visual Basic is treated as a programmable object, you'll also learn some about object-oriented programming and how it applies to Visual Basic. Finally, you'll see how to build applications that take advantage of databases like Microsoft Access. VB also has a massive third-party market for add-on components so that you don't have to write all the parts of your program yourself. Need to provide a grid on a window? There are at least five companies that make grid add-ons. The ability to leverage this component market makes VB an even more powerful tool than what comes in the box. Finally, VB has a huge impromptu support network through hundreds of web sites devoted to Visual Basic. If you need help or answers to commonly asked questions, entering the question into any search engine will return at least a few answers related to the question.

Requirements:

Visual Basic 6.0 Professional or Enterprise Edition, Microsoft Access 97 or Microsoft Access 2000 for database lessons, Internet access, E-mail, Netscape or Internet Explorer Web browser.
