Implementation Date:

Beginning with the October 1999 course offerings, EAU awards CEUs to respective course attendees. The CEU is a nationally recognized unit of measure used to quantify continuing education and training activities.

Definition of CEU:

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) were created as a way to document noncredit work in specifically developed activities for adult learners in a variety of disciplines. One CEU is defined as 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience. A contact hour is defined as the time spent between trainer and attendee or time spent in self-study. One full-day course equals .65 CEU (deducting scheduled breaks and lunch times). A half-day course equals .35 CEU (deducting one-half hour break).

Standards:

EAU has established the Internal Educational Standards committee. The mission of IES is to promote and advance quality continuing education, training, and instruction. EAU is committed to developing positive and productive educational experiences that have a clear purpose, result from careful planning, are taught by qualified instructors and are routinely evaluated.
