Excellence Alliance Foundation Scholarship
Purpose of the Scholarship:
Excellence Alliance Foundation provides
funds to qualified educational institutions as described
in Internal Revenue Code Section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii) for distribution
as qualified scholarships to individuals seeking education
or training in the contracting industry. Qualified educational
institutions are defined as those which normally maintain
a regular faculty and curriculum and normally have a regularly
enrolled body of pupils or students in attendance at the
place where its educational activities are regularly carried
on. Qualified scholarships are defined by reference to Internal
Revenue Code Section 117. As such, any amount received by
an individual as a scholarship grant requires that the individual
establishes to the qualified educational institution making
the grant that, in accordance with the terms of the grant,
such amount was used for qualified tuition and related expenses
(specifically tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment
required for courses of instruction, enrollment or attendance
at the educational institution). The individual scholarships
will be awarded based on pre-established objectives and
non-discriminatory criteria as described below.
Scholarship Amount:
Qualified Educational Institution
recipients of the Excellence Alliance Foundation scholarships
shall receive a minimum of $2,000, which will be for the
explicit use and distribution to needy students.
Eligibility Requirements:
Geographic Focus:
Priority consideration will be given
to qualified educational institutions that are located in
regions of the country where EAF contributions are received.
Subject to availability of funds.
Excellence Alliance Member Recommendation:
EAF will solicit feedback from regional
Excellence Alliance Member companies based on the job performance
of graduates from the institution for the purpose of maintaining
quality control and accountability of the donee educational
institutions.
EAF Awards Scholarship Funds to
Institutions That:
- Prepare students for employment
in the HVAC Industry.
- Pursue academic excellence through
participation in industry endorsed accreditation programs.
- Distribute scholarships to the
individuals within six months of receiving funds. Non-compliance
will result in a forfeiture of the funds.
- Distribute scholarships based
on a systematic, non-biased and objective decision-making
process incorporating input from teachers/instructors
of the qualified educational institutions which is ratified
and approved by the independent Board of Directors of
such qualified educational institutions.
- Agree to award scholarships to
candidates entering or enrolled in a heating, ventilation,
air conditioning and refrigeration technology program
that demonstrates financial need (in accordance with the
established financial aid criteria of the qualified educational
institutions) and academic achievement (cumulative grade
point average of 2.5 or better or its equivalent)
- Do not discriminate by race, color,
creed, gender, or national origin.
Application Procedures:
Educational institutions may be recommended
for application or may initiate the application process.
In each case an Excellence Alliance Foundation Scholarship
Application form must be completed.

- Scholarship Applications will
be reviewed quarterly.
- Educational Institutions will
be notified in writing concerning Excellence Alliance
Foundation Board's decision on scholarship applications.
